St. Thomas Altar Chapter
The Altar Chapter is the ministry of preparing and maintaining the altar,
sacred vessels and vestments for our worship services.
Members of the Altar Chapter perform a vital ministry that enables our parish
to worship together and glorify Christ in the Episcopal tradition.
Members are trained and assigned to a rotating team
that is responsible for the services during a given week.
Preparations for weddings, funerals, and baptisms are also
the responsibility of the Altar Chapter.
The Altar Chapter cares for the linens, communion silver, liturgical hangings,
candles, and brass vases which are used in the various services.
The changing vestments and altar hangings remind us
of the progression of seasons in the Christian calendar,
and they accent special services throughout the year.
The Altar Chapter works closely with the Rector,
complementing the ministry of the Word and sacraments.
